Wednesday 20 October 2010 SPENDING REVIEW ADDS TO WELFARE CUTS The recent Welfare Benefit Cuts announced 20th October are the cruellest cuts to benefits ever announced by any UK government! DLA Help Group utterly condemns the cuts as unfair, not required and counter productive to actually getting people work.The Government is even going to remove the wheelchairs and cars obtained with their Mobility payments when they go into care homes. These cuts combined with the time limits on ESA (12 months) and the random throwing of people off of DLA with the new "medicals" will actually cut more than £18bn off of the Welfare. DLA Help Group calculates that another £3bn or more will be lost when the (unannounced) knock on effect to other benefits is taken into account. DLA Help Group utterly condemns the cuts as unfair, not required and counter productive to actually getting people work. Where is the money to allow people to take prospective employers to Tribunal when rejected for jobs? Where is the money to train employers to accept and help sick and disabled people who want to try some work? All the cuts to benefits will do is ensure that sick and disabled people who cannot work are denied money to live. DLA Help Group call for a concerted campaign against the Coalition and hope that they may be removed from office this year.
